WNY Postpartum Connection, Inc.
Building a stronger community together...
WNY Postpartum Connection, Inc. was created by three social workers in private practice, independent in our work but joined in our passion for working with moms in our community. Jennifer Mancuso Urban, Julie Rosinski, and Lori Badach are licensed clinical social workers in private practice, each with over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field. We are independent practitioners brought together by a common desire to improve mental health services for postpartum families.
We recognized that services for postpartum families were severely lacking in Western New York. In an effort to bridge the gap, we each sought out specialized training in treating postpartum mood and anxiety disorders. We became active in raising awareness about maternal mental health in the community, in networking with OBGYN and pediatric offices to promote screening and referrals, and have been integral partners in bringing more specialized training to therapists and other healthcare providers in Western New York, while being active members of the WNY PMAD Coalition (through the PRCNY Project 62).
In 2017 we created the WNY Postpartum Connection website to enhance access to quality mental health and other complementary services, to promote quick and effective recovery for moms and their families. In May 2020 we established the WNY Postpartum Connection as a not-for-profit corporation. As of Spring 2020 the WNY Postpartum Connection, Inc. network represents over 50 independent practitioners and agencies, 12 support groups, and numerous other supportive programs and service providers in the community. We organize and lead the annual Climb out of the Darkness Walk benefiting Postpartum Support International and local partners. We provide education to groups in our community and promote access to care for all moms and families in WNY. Postpartum mental health concerns are very common and very treatable. We believe that no mother should suffer in silence simply because of a lack of resources. We are committed to helping all women access the care they need, without fear of discrimination.
We are always looking to continue growing our network. If you would like to become an affiliate with the WNY Postpartum Connection please reach out and connect with us.
